Students Rights: A Public Forum on Due Process, Free Speech & Privacy Rights in Educational Institutions

July 17, 2014 - Rockefeller Center at Dartmouth College - 4:30 - 5:30

Free and Open to the Public

A panel of experts will focus broadly on students rights, including to what extent certain constitutional rights that apply with respect to government action also apply to private educational institutions.  With this backdrop, the panel will address such complex and fascinating issues as free speech rights in both public and private universities, the balance between due process and the need to aggressively investigate misconduct, digital privacy, the unique interplay between criminal prosecution and private discipline in private educational institutions, and how the constitutional right against unreasonable searches and seizures applies on private university campuses.
