The ACLU of New Hampshire is proud to champion people’s right to be themselves. We were proud members of the successful Freedom New Hampshire coalition to secure rights for New Hampshire’s Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming (TGNC) community. When the bill was signed into law in June 2018, many acknowledged that there would be more work to be done in advocating for our TGNC neighbors.
The Trans Justice campaign in New Hampshire is an opportunity to continue the momentum of Freedom New Hampshire and push further. Not only will we continue to engage advocates originally empowered by years of attempting to pass transgender nondiscrimination protections, but we will be empowering them to set their own goals. By continuing the empowerment of the trans community and educating the rest of the state about the barriers to a transgender lived equality in New Hampshire, the ACLU of NH will continue the fight to make New Hampshire a more accommodating place for TGNC people.
If you have questions about Trans Justice, including an interest in getting involved, as well as possible cases of gender identity-based discrimination in New Hampshire, please contact: Palana Belken, Trans Justice Organizer, Palana@aclu-nh.org.
